Pourquoi Dubai : A futuristic oasis of record-breaking architecture, designer shopping, and desert adventures.
Dubai : guide du voyageur
Dubai is the most engineered city on the planet. Forty years ago this was desert with a creek running through it; today it has the world's tallest building, the world's busiest international airport by passenger traffic, and a hotel skyline that competes for sail-shaped, palm-shaped, and frame-shaped icons. Hotel selection clusters around three poles: the beachfront strip from JBR through Palm Jumeirah, the downtown corridor anchored by Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall, and the older creek-side heritage districts of Bur Dubai and Deira.
Où séjourner
- Downtown Dubai. Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Dubai Fountain. Hotels here trade beachfront for skyline. Best base for a city-and-shopping trip.
- Palm Jumeirah. Man-made palm island with the highest density of beachfront luxury resorts. Atlantis at the crown, dozens of resorts along the trunk.
- Dubai Marina & JBR. Skyscraper canyons next to a 1.7 km public beach. Restaurant strip at The Walk. Younger, livelier, less polished than Palm Jumeirah.
- Jumeirah Beach (Burj Al Arab corridor). Original luxury beachfront, lower-rise. Burj Al Arab, Madinat Jumeirah complex, Wild Wadi water park.
- Bur Dubai & Deira. Old Dubai. Heritage souks (gold, spice), Dubai Creek, abra water taxis, lower hotel prices. Cultural counterpoint to the new city.
Quand y aller
November to March is the comfortable window — daytime highs 24–28 °C and the entire outdoor city becomes usable. April and October are shoulder months. June through September is brutal (40+ °C) but indoor hotels, malls, and theme parks operate at full strength and rates fall sharply.
Conseils pratiques
- The Metro is air-conditioned, fast, and connects DXB airport to downtown and to Marina. Most luxury resorts run free shuttles to the nearest station.
- Friday is the local weekend day; Friday brunch is a Dubai institution — hotel restaurants serve elaborate set menus with free-flow beverages.
- Dress code is relaxed at hotel beaches and pools. In malls and public areas, shoulders and knees should be covered.
- Alcohol is served at licensed hotel venues only. Do not drink in public; do not drive after any alcohol.
Questions fréquentes
- Is Ramadan a difficult time to visit?
- No, but daytime restaurant service is limited outside hotels. Hotels operate normally and many run lavish iftar buffets after sunset. It is a culturally interesting time to visit.
- Can I visit Abu Dhabi from Dubai?
- Yes — about 90 minutes by car each way. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Louvre Abu Dhabi are typical day-trip targets. Most hotel concierges arrange private transfers.
- Are kids welcome at the luxury resorts?
- Very. Most beachfront resorts have dedicated kids clubs, family pools, and connecting-room layouts. A few specifically market themselves as adults-only.
